Ideas for using LifeLegacy Cards
Create a comfortable space for lively interactions with family members and friends
- Play a game at the dinner table: lay a card or two face down in front of each plate, then turn the cards over one by one and let the conversation begin
- Or as a variation, have fun trading the cards until each has one they’d love to talk about
- At an inter-generational gathering or reunion, let the older kids pick the cards they’d like to pose to their elders; after a while, switch and let the younger generation tell their stories
- Lay them all out on a coffee table with no instruction; listen for what transpires spontaneously
Engage clients, donors and patients in new ways and initiate conversations about legacy and planning
- At the start, or close, of a meeting, ask the client to pick out a card or two they’d enjoy talking about
- Send a box home and assign “homework:” a story or reflection to share at the next meeting
- Over the course of several meetings, work through the cards one at a time
- Use in a family meeting: pick a card for the whole group to respond to, or ask each person to choose a card and share a story
Customize them to match your company’s marketing materials and touch valued clients, donors or associates
- Give as an appreciation or holiday gift to clients, donors, colleagues or professional associates
- Distribute as a table favor or take-away at an event you are sponsoring
- Offer as a reward to prospective clients or donors
Other ways to use them
- Leave them out in reception areas or conference rooms
- Let job applicants choose a card to which they would like to respond
- Use as an icebreaker at a meeting or retreat. Share responses with the group or in small groups or pairs.
- Reflect upon them alone and consider what you most want to share with those you love – in conversation, in a recorded interview, or in a written ethical will or memoir
